Every 10 years, we breathe new life into our roots by hosting an exciting 4 day event that will most definitely leave Georgia on your mind! Come catch a breeze under the magnolia trees while sipping cool, sweet tea and mingle with warm, inviting faces. Experience the tantalizing, juicy flesh of our famous Georgia peaches and indulge in the sweet, buttery flavor of our world renowned Georgia pecans. Walk in the footsteps of our nation’s most life-changing Civil Rights activists. Bounce to the beat of your favorite musical artists who call Georgia home. Dawson Carter Scholarship

Eloise Gordy

Eloise Gordy, LEGACY Donor and inspiration for the establishment of the Dawson Carter Reunion Scholarship

The realization of our talents and potentialities, also known as self-actualization, is a concept we all strive to reach. The journey towards this self-actualization can extend over a lifetime when we lack guidance and support to realize our strengths and find careers in which our hearts truly belong. While we all embody unique characteristics from the day we are born into this world, it is not until we begin to mature into adulthood that we are faced with the task of figuring out how we “fit" into the puzzle of life.

Inspired by her maternal grandmother, Sonia Murphy Anders founded the Dawson-Carter Scholarship Program in 2000. She is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University where she completed a bachelor’s degree in Allied Health & Medical Technology. Sonia continued her education at Meharry Medical College where she obtained a doctorate in Biomedical Science. After personally experiencing the many roadblocks that can negatively affect high school graduates who seek to become self-sufficient, educated, and contributing members of society, Sonia realized that she wanted to assist in any way possible. She strongly believes that we have to support the next generation so that we may all move forward in our successes. We are stronger together!

The Dawson-Carter Scholarship Program has humble beginnings, but has grown exponentially in recent years with increased support from you! We have seen our graduates experience their successes and pay it forward to the next generations. We, as a family, have an obligation to maintain this helpful “step up” to the next phase of life for our graduates and be their strength, their cheerleader, their network…be their Dawson-Carter family. Please continue to support the Dawson-Carter Scholarship effort.
